What comes to mind when you hear the word “Social Networking?” Some people may think that social networking is about the way we get various updates from friends who we follow. other people may think about the ways you can meet and connect with individuals everywhere in the world. Although, some believe about social networking as the path that gives them the ability to send and receive any news. Someone out there might think that social networking is a part of a new advertising plan. I believe that social networking appears to be a all of these examples and more!
For instance, when your friends and family don’t respond to your text, you can simply get their attention by messaging them on Facebook. When you are dying to listen or watch this new song that your favorite artist released-just check it out on YouTube. When you wake up and open your eyes, and don’t want to move from your bed to get the newspaper, just grab your phone and scroll down your Twitter timeline and you’ll probably get the info.
If anyone is curious, because I was, here is the definition of social networking…
“A social networking service (also social networking site or SNS) is a platform to build social networks or social relations among people who share similar interests, activities, backgrounds, or real-life connections. A social network service consists of a representation of each user (often a profile), his or her social links, and a variety of additional services such as career services. Social network sites are varied and they incorporate new information and communication tools such as mobile connectivity, photo, video, sharing and blogging.”
Humans are social animals! We the people need to connect in today’s society. We have the power purely at our fingertips to create anything and make a difference. Any website that acknowledges group interaction is considered a social networking site, such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube.
These sites offer todays society a gateway for entertainment and communication and have grown throughout many years.
For this reason companies can use information on social sites to discover things about potential employees. Evaluating profiles and looking at photos has become ordinary for many businesses. Ones job search could make you or break you!
Socializing through cell phones is developing quickly, allowing the user to continue whatever they are doing away from their home, school, or job. Also many apps on smartphones add a twist of keeping in contact with your friends 24/7.
Social networking throughout the years has released many platforms in which any individual such as Obama, Kevin Hart or YOU can post whatever and start a mission and change the world with just one click. This might sound a little crazy, but it is true. Nevertheless, it depends on how you decide to use it!
